Rev. Jan Overton serves the Crestline Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama where she lives with her husband Gene, two dogs, and a cat. She has always had a passion for writing. Several years ago she started sending daily e-mails as a way of encouraging her friends. Then, in 2005, she turned her e-mails into daily devotions. Her new goal was to encourage readers in their daily walk with Christ by applying Bible passages to every day life. At the same time she changed the format and content, she also expanded the list of recipients to include church members, business associates, friends, and friends of friends. Several of those receiving the daily devotions encouraged Jan to put her collection in print and open her daily words of encouragement to people who do not use the Internet.
